who we are
We are artists, musicians, athletes, teachers, students, ragamuffins, seekers, believers, parents, singles, doubters, questioners, organizers, responders, faithful, sinners, and saints. We work long hours, are laid off, between jobs, piece meal hourly work, retired, and stay at home with the kids. We are Christians who value the wisdom of other traditions and religions, and believe deeply in interfaith collaboration. We are human beings doing our best, apologizing when we mess up, and trying to do better next time. We are recovering from old myths that keep us and others small, and instead seek out ancient and new stories that allow space for God’s love and liberation to be made known in us, through us, and around us.
We are nourished by the Holy Spirit, take the Bible seriously, and are propped up by the traditions of the Episcopal Church. We are called to faith in action, and so we are committed to the spiritual life, patterning our way of living after the way of Christ, seeking to offer mercy and participate in building a just and moral world.
We value and celebrate diversity in all God’s creation, and strive to build a church community reflective of Beloved Community. We are committed to creating affirming space for all, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ persons. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, or ability. Rather, we seek to celebrate the expressions of humanity present in this beautiful world. And we are not perfect at doing so. We welcome feedback as we seek to create a place of belonging together.
